Fix a Greenhouse resume that won't parse
The pain is the parse preview: you attach a resume on boards.greenhouse.io and contact, dates, or whole jobs never land. A file over 2.5 MB or a designed header is often why. Fix the file first, then aim that cleaned resume at the same posting.

Greenhouse shows a parse preview, not a keyword score
Greenhouse reads your upload into structured fields so the hiring team can search them. When that read fails, the application looks empty even if the resume looked polished on your screen.
This is a different problem from a generic ATS skim, and it is not Workday autofill scramble or a Taleo stored profile. You are trying to give Greenhouse a file it can map: one column, contact in the body, under 2.5 MB, no tables or headers, then a paste test before you re-upload.

- Name, email, or phone never appear because they lived in a header, footer, or icon
- Skills and bullets from a table or sidebar disappear from the Greenhouse preview

Parseable Format
Rebuild the file Greenhouse can actually read
Designed headers, tables, and oversized files are the usual source of a Greenhouse miss. If a fact is not ordinary body text, assume the preview may drop it or attach it to the wrong field.
- Keep the resume under 2.5 MB and skip logos, icons, and extra images
- Use a single column and ordinary headings such as Experience, Education, and Skills
- Put your name, email, phone, and links in the document body as plain text
- Skip tables, text boxes, headers, footers, and multi-column layouts
- Paste-test the file, then check the Greenhouse parsed preview before you submit

How to fix a Greenhouse resume that will not parse

Keep the file under 2.5 MB and skip designed extras
Greenhouse on boards.greenhouse.io often rejects or truncates a resume over 2.5 MB. Compress images or, better, leave them off. A designed PDF with logos and icons is a common reason the parse preview comes back empty even when the file opened on your screen.

Put contact and job titles in the document body
Greenhouse parsers miss text that lives in a header, footer, text box, or icon. Type your name, email, phone, and links as ordinary body text. Keep each job title on its own line next to the employer, not inside a designed banner.

Use one column and skip tables
Two-column layouts, skills sidebars, and table cells are the usual reason dates vanish or a job never reaches the parsed preview. Use a single column and ordinary headings such as Experience, Education, and Skills.

Run a copy-paste test, then check the Greenhouse preview
Select the whole resume, paste it into a plain-text box, and read what survived. Then look at the fields Greenhouse extracted after upload. If contact is missing or a role disappeared, fix the file until the preview matches the work you actually did.

Aim the cleaned resume at that same Greenhouse job
A file that parses still has to match the posting. Rewrite so the relevant proof is easy to find, use the employer's language only where it is true, and write a cover letter for that boards.greenhouse.io role.
